Terms of service

Last updated 11 October 2026

These terms apply when you use Gróa and when you buy Gróa Pro. The seller is Helgi Þór Jóhannsson, a sole trader, kennitala 040292-3229, Hraunbær 34, 810 Hveragerði, Iceland, support@vaki.chat.

What Gróa is

Gróa identifies a plant from a photo, says what may be wrong with it and what can be done, with advice from a library in which every piece of advice carries its source. Identification, toxicity, protection and the rest of the diagnosis screen are free.

Gróa Pro

With Gróa Pro you can talk to Gróa about your plants and send her photos and video of what is wrong. The answers are grounded in the library and say where they come from. A daily ceiling on the number of answers protects the service from abuse.

The price is €4.99 a month or €39.99 a year, charged in euros.

Paddle.com Market Ltd is the merchant of record for Gróa Pro. Paddle takes the payment, handles VAT and issues the receipt, and Paddle's buyer terms apply to the purchase itself. Gróa never sees your card number.

Credits you earn by sending photos of plants we are looking for are one conversation with Gróa each. They have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and lapse if the account is deleted.

Cancelling

You can cancel at any time, from the link in any Paddle receipt or by writing to support@vaki.chat. Gróa Pro keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for, and you are not charged again. Refunds are explained in the refund policy.

If you delete your account, the subscription is cancelled at once and whatever is left of the period ends with it. If you want a refund, ask for it before you delete the account.

Advice, not a professional

Gróa's advice is general and comes from a library. It is not a substitute for a horticulturist, a vet, a doctor or a professional in plant protection products. An identification from a photo can be wrong: Gróa shows the three most likely species with their probabilities and says when she is unsure. Check before you act, especially before you use any product, and follow its label. Parts of the library have not yet been reviewed by a horticulturist or a vet, and the app says so where that applies.

Gróa never tells you a plant is safe. Where it is not known whether a plant is toxic, the app says it is not known, never that it is safe.

If a person or an animal has eaten a plant, do not wait for the app. In Iceland, ring Eitrunarmiðstöð Landspítala, the poison information centre, on 543 2222, open around the clock, or 112 if the signs are serious. For an animal, ring a vet.

Gróa never tells you that a plant or an action is legal. She quotes regulations about named species and stops there, because whether a rule applies depends on where you are and on exemptions the app cannot see. You are responsible for following the law where you are.

Your photos and content

You own your photos and what you write. You allow Gróa to store and process them to provide the service. Photos are only used to train Gróa's model if you have allowed it. Photos sent to be identified go to Kindwise and Kindwise's terms apply to them, as described in the privacy policy.

Do not use Gróa to try to reach other people's data, to harvest its content automatically, or in a way that threatens the service for others. We may close an account used that way.

If something goes wrong

We do not promise Gróa is always available; she depends on services we do not control. Tell us at support@vaki.chat and we will fix what can be fixed.

Our liability to you is limited to what you paid for Gróa Pro in the last 12 months. Nothing here limits your rights as a consumer under Icelandic and EEA law, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Icelandic law, and disputes go to the courts of Iceland. That does not take away any right the consumer law of your own country gives you.

If these terms change, we will tell you before the change applies to a period you have paid for.
